Maverick Mosaics offers regularly scheduled “Open Studio” hours, a unique opportunity for students to take part in a community of like-minded people who are passionate to learn and to create mosaic art. Open Studio is an on-going opportunity where multi-level students work on projects in various stages of completion.
Open Studio participants have full use of the studio and tools including grinders, saws and cutting stations. Maverick Mosaics also maintains an extensive and eclectic collection of mosaic materials available for purchase. Including vitreous and stained glass, ceramic tiles, broken china, natural and found materials, milleflori, granite and marble. If your project requires additional supplies, we will help you choose and source the appropriate materials.
Newcomers are always welcome. Students often attend Open Studio after taking a structured class so they can practice new techniques and apply what they’ve learned. Many students have attended Open Studio on and off for years, mastering skills and working on advanced projects while enjoying the community of their artist peers. Staff is available for mentoring and guidance during studio time, but in-depth instruction or lecture is not provided.
We require reservations for each Open Studio and maintain a 24-hour cancellation policy. You will be charged for your reserved space unless you provide at least 24 hours notice. You are not required to attend every week. All new students, however, must make a minimum commitment of four Open Studio dates, paid in advance.
Our current Open Studio hours are:
Tuesday evenings: 6:00pm – 9:30pm
Wednesday afternoons: 12:30pm – 4pm

NOTE: Open Studio is not held when visiting artists are in town, and schedules will vary during holidays. Wednesday’s noon to 4pm Open Studio is offered September through May only.
