Guidelines & Policies

Classes and Workshops

All classes have a minimum and maximum participation number; therefore payment (and commitment) in advance of scheduled date is required. You will always be advised in advance if there is any preparation, additional supplies or special tools needed prior to the first class.

Payments and Refunds

If using credit card via our secure payment website, payment in full is due at the time of registration. We accept Visa, Master Card and Discover. Registration and payment can also be done via US mail or in person at the studio as outlined on the registration form downloadable from the website. If paying via check or cash a minimum $50 deposit per class is required to hold your spot, payment in full is due 14 days in advance.

Withdraw Policy

Notification of withdraw must be sent in writing (e-mail is fine) and refunds will be made as follows LESS a $25 processing fee.

100% Refund - 30 or more days before the start date of the course

100% STUDIO CREDIT - between 30 and 7 days notice before the start date of the course – credits may be used for future workshops, open studio times or supplies

No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations made 7 days or less before the start date of the course. Sorry, but we do turn many students away for lack of spaces.

PLEASE NOTE: Studio credit does not guarantee you a spot in a future class, there must be space available, and you must contact Maverick Mosaics to register and send any additional class fees.

All studio credits must be used within one year of time credit is issued.

The above policies apply to class credits and gift certificates as well.

There are NO EXCEPTIONS to the policy stated above. This includes all unforeseen circumstances.

Children’s Art Camp Refund Policy

Payment in full is due at the time of registration. Summer Camp class fees are non-refundable unless we are able to fill the vacancy from our wait list. Payment installment arrangements can be made if you are registering more than one sibling at a time, please contact the studio with this request.

Cancellation Policy

Although our classes typically fill to the maximum occupancy, if our minimum student requirements are not met, we have the right to cancel the class.  In the case of a class cancellation you will receive a full refund or credit for another class-your choice.

Open Studio Time - check schedule for days

Evening "Open Studio" time is 6:30 to 9:30 pm, afternoons 12:30 to 4:30 pm, $25 plus supplies.  You have access to all tools.   Although staff is available for mentoring and guidance there is not in depth instruction during “Open Studio” time. We require reservations with a 24-hour cancellation policy (if you are signed up and are a no show you are charged for the time).  You do not need to come every single week; many folks come 3 out of 4 weeks.  All new students must make a four-week minimum commitment in advance. Supplies are an additional fee on a case-by-case basis. Open Studio sessions are limited to 8 students at a time.

Supplies

Unless otherwise noted supply costs are quoted along-side the class tuition fee. Supply fees are payable to the instructor at the first class. The fee for “Open Studio” sessions includes time only, and supplies ARE NOT INCLUDED. Supplies for “Open Studio” can be brought from home or purchased through Maverick Mosaics, determined on a case-by-case basis.

Tools

We strongly recommend the purchase of a LePonitt Mosaic Cutter (wheel tool), the hand tool of choice for mosaic artists. We often have them available for a cost of $35, or you can purchase on your own. Maverick Mosaic tools can only be used at the studio and are not loaned out for home or personal use. If you wish to work at home you will need your own wheel tool.

Parking

Our entrance and parking lot is at the back of the building. You may park in any unmarked space in the building parking lot including three designated Maverick Mosaic spots.

Inclement Weather

Our first priority is the safety of our students and our employees. Please call the studio for information regarding inclement weather. We do not follow Fairfax County Public School closings!

Liability and Responsibility

Maverick Mosaics is not responsible for work, materials and belongings that are in class during class time or left behind after the conclusion of a course or workshop. All students will be asked to complete an emergency contact form and hold-harmless statement prior to working in the Maverick Mosaics studio space.
