Turning Your Art or Craft Hobby into a Business

Workshop Description

We have designed this workshop especially for artists interested in propelling their work to the professional realm and taking their business to the next level.

Each participant will be sent a short questionnaire prior to class. This will be an opportunity to summarize your experience and aspirations so that instructor will be able to address your most pressing questions and concerns.

The class begins Saturday with an informal introduction and discussion over coffee. The weekend agenda will be reviewed. Important dialogue will begin as we discuss how to grow your business and do what you love!

Handouts will be provided including sample contracts, budget forms, reading lists and commission presentation materials. Class topics will include the following:

• How to set up your small business
• Pricing
• Client relations
• Contracts
• Networking tips
• Bidding residential and commercial commissions
• Showing your work: art shows, craft fairs, and gallery work
• Applying for public projects
• Public relations and marketing
• Professional organizations: local, national, international

Instructor Bonnie Fitzgerald is the founder and owner of Maverick Mosaics. In addition to developing an award winning mosaic educational facility she continues to create large-scale mosaic artworks for public and private entities.
